Response to Poem: "American Gothic" by John Stone

"American Gothic" by John Stone
Painting "American Gothic" by Grant Wood

Love it.

I see a writer filling in details and a backstory of what could possibly be felt but is not seen in the poem. A paintings moment has been pulled into another dimension, the poet has added the "z" to the painting's "x" and "y". I now hear the thoughts of the subjects and the sounds of the environment. I'm brought into the moment as the painting was being created instead of being on the outside, looking at a flat piece of work.
